ANNALISA CARUSO

Artist and designer working in fashion.

She lives in Rome and travels around the world to gain inspiration for new prints and patterns for her textile creations. These consist of photographs and paintings in gouaches, acrylics, collages, markers, inks and other techniques, sometimes combined to a virtual post-production. In a nutshell, her work is a meeting between classic hand and photograph based composition and 21st century graphic design.

She has had a long lasting collaboration with the “Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts”, being the first designer to obtain the Foundation license in fashion.

Presenting her project in a black plastic waste bag, she gained the possibility to re-work all the production of the Master of Pop-Art.

Wandering between Marylins and Jackies, Campbell Soups and Brillo Boxes as well as the less-known Oxidations series (the reproduction of the Factory’s carpet where some of Andy’s icons used to piss when drunk), all of these precious masterpieces are printed on her dresses and sweatshirts.

That influenced her whole iconography.

Department stores as much as archaeological sites fascinate her as they are representative of both past and present of human sociality from which she draw her inspiration.

Similarly, she is fond of the infantile world, but also of theatricality & drama. This background drives her sense of color, which fuses with an adult, yet at times austere, graphical symbology.

She is the Founder and Art Director of “Animapop - The Perfect Reversible Dress“
